The Effect of Hypnotherapy on Smoking Behavior of Junior High School Students
Abstract
Background: Teenagers are individuals aged 10 to 24 who are in the transitional period between childhood and maturity and are unmarried. The environment influences the development of adolescents, which can result in deviant behavior such as smoking. Some methods for quitting smoking include acupuncture, meditation, and hypnotherapy. Consequently, it is necessary to attempt hypnotherapy for smoking behavior.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to understand the impact of hypnotherapy on student smoking behavior.
Methods: This type of research is quantitative using the Quasy Experimental and One Group Pretest Postest approach. Sample in this study 28 respondents and Random Sampling sampling techniques and data collection using the GN_SBQ questionnaire to measure smoking behavior. The bivariate analysis used in this study used the Wilcoxon test.
Results: The bivariate analysis used in this study using the Wilcoxon test and it was found that the behavior of the respondents smoking before hypnotherapy of 28 respondents with an average of 8.11, while after hypnoterapy was with a average of 4.71. The results of this study obtained a P-value of 0,000 (<0.05) which means hypnotherapy influenced smoking behavior.
Suggestion: Expected to educational institutions to make hypnotherapy therapy as one of the ways to reduce smoking behavior
